Stacy is a regular contributor to First American Art Magazine and has written interpretive texts and catalog essays for numerous Indigenous art exhibitions.

The Story Behind The Writer

Stacy Pratt is an enrolled citizen of the Mvskoke (Creek) Nation. She holds a B.A. in English from Northeastern State University (Tahlequah, OK), M.A. in literature from the University of Arkansas, and Ph.D. in creative writing from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Previously, she taught composition and literature at several universities, most recently SUNY-Jefferson in Watertown, NY, where she received a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

She received the 2022 Dorthea and Leo Rabkin Prize in Art Journalism and a 2023 Andy Warhol Art Writing Fellowship.

She is also the lead singer and lyricist of Tulsa, Oklahoma metal band Everything That Kills.
